A World of WarCraft player has sued IGE for “knowingly interfering with and substantially impairing the intended use and enjoyment”. He claims IGE has reaped some serious profits and no doubt he is true. IGE is one of the biggest and well known virtual item sellers. It is well known that IGE amasses its virtual property through the use of third world farmers, commonly referred to as Chinese Farmers. Here is a link to the actual complaint.
I’d be looking into this quite a bit to see where it goes! Blizzard’s games are going to set the pace of virtual goods. For those unaware, Blizzard has recently filed a suit against Peons4hire. Most if not all WoW players received the Peons4Hire whisper while playing WoW which is probably one of the reason Blizzard is going after them. This spam was taken seriously as Blizzard now has an option to automatically report a player for spamming. Neat!

While browsing the around the interwebz I found a funny post about a 15 year old kid who scammed a Private Investigator out of his WoW Account. What happens next is priceless! Check it out!
“Today a scammer named “WoWfan4life” messed with the wrong person I am 25 , and have been a Private Investigator for the State of Florida and Texas for 3 years.
I came across him interested in my World of Warcraft account offering 120$. He seemed very sketchy , rushing me etc. and I thought this trade was going to be a problem but I really wanted to get rid of this account. I accepted his offer and waited for payment via paypal. Since I was being very impatient which was my big mistake I did not wait for the “Pending” funds to clear.. So I gave the account information and as I thought the 120$ was cancelled before clearing. Immediately after giving him the info !
I had prepared for this situation , so I decided to try and turn this whole scam around Screenshots below, funniest thing I’ve ever seen , linked it to a whole bunch of friends thought you all would gain something from this experience too

I’m still thinking about that dispute I’ll be calling his mommy today.”
Markee Dragon is a huge forum with much dedication to trading, selling, and services for just about every game out there. This is probably a good stop if you’re looking into getting into that sort of business.
Did anyone else get a kick out of this? This should be a lesson to all of you kiddie scammers.

I found an interesting site for anyone out there looking to either buy gold or sell it. The site tells you the price value for some of the bigger company’s out there. It’s worth a look see. I found it easy to navigate and it has support for World of WarCraft, EverQuest, and EverQuest 2!
RPG Stock Exchange
Another site with similar information but I can’t tell how up to date it is.

I just came home from work and found some news around the web that shocked me. This is news to me even thought it may be a week old to some of you! Anyway… Turns out a man by the name of Marc Bragg lost his ‘virtual land’ in the popular world of Second Life. So what does Marc do? He goes to court! In cases like these you never imagine that some guy out there is going to beat a huge company, yet he does.
“Linden Lab and Rosedale made a motion to dismiss the lawsuit for lack of personal jurisdiction and another motion to compel arbitration. The West Chester judge, however, denied both motions”
I thought this was a HUGE blow to Linden Lab. Technically Linden Labs is correct in saying this Marc exploited the system to gain his property but the Judge didn’t seem to care!
“Bragg is demanding roughly $8,000 in restitution from Linden Lab, and it appears as if this will be the first case over virtual land to make it all the way to court. Some believe that the outcome of the case could affect how the ownership of virtual property is treated in relation to games like Second Life and World of Warcraft, where users often buy and sell items with both virtual and real money.”
Looks to me like Mr. Braggs has left his mark on the virtual property controversy. No doubt many company’s will be reviewing their Terms of Service and End User License Agreements to make sure they don’t get bit in rear.

Good job stumbling upon this website! I have created this blog to discuss popular topics related to the virtual world and economics. The virtual world is one that is quickly becoming a standard for many people. It’s safe to say that there are people out there who may spend more time in this virtual world than the real world. Whether you like it or not the gaming craze is only to grow bigger and bigger. With this constantly increasing number of users playing in virtual worlds there are a whole range of business opportunities opening up.Believe it or not I nearly make a living playing in these virtual worlds. My favorite by far is World of WarCraft. WoW has dominated the MMORPG market for the past few years and it doesn’t look like there is any competition. With 8.5 million players there are plenty of ways to not only enjoy yourself but to make a buck here and there as well!
One of the best things about making money playing a game is that anyone can do it! There aren’t complex rules or requirements. Just play the game! There are so many games to start a business in. Many new MMORPG’s are making their way to stores and a whole new virtual world is opening up with users willing to pay for many services.
A little history about myself:
I started playing World of Warcraft about two years ago. When I first started I was not a full time gamer. I had a full time job and I never imagined I could make money playing this game. A little while down the road as my knowledge of the game increased I realized how much potential there was for actually making money playing it. When I finally got down to business I decided I would start off small and work my way up. I went from selling small amounts of gold, to very large amounts, to power-leveling, to farming, and everything else in between.
My strategies have worked so well that I went from making $80 a month to over $8,000! Yes, it’s hard to believe it’s actually possible to make close to $100,000 a year from playing a game! I am currently writing a guide that shows exactly what, where, when, and how I progressed that much!
I will use this blog to help out other “newbies” find resources within their virtual worlds to profit off of. Stay tuned for more updates!
