Getting a Blizzcon Two-Gift Murloc Card

It’s not easy… Nor is it cheap. But unless you forked over tons of cash to attend Blizzcon (and probably to get there) there aren’t many alternatives to getting the much sought after attendee prize. For anyone who missed out Shattered Crystal has a few in stock. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity because these aren’t given out after Blizzcon is over!

This is the two-gift card given away to attendees of the 2007 BlizzCon. The card includes two codes:

The first code is an in-game Murloc costume for World of Warcraft.

The second code is a sign-up key for a game beta test for a future, undisclosed, Blizzard product.

GlideRelog isn’t dead - In fact it’s kickin ass!

GlideRelog is one of those amazing programs that you hope will always stay free and live a long happy life in the public world. That’s how I felt until the announcement came that the program would would be closed to the public. I was bummed! What other program is going to restart my WoWGlider bot when it stops? The developer had decided that due to websites selling his tools (which were freeware), added on with the fact that the tool was growing in popularity and the fear of a ban from this tool could become a possibility, the developer decided it would be in everyones best interest if he privatized his programs.

Luckily for me I got a private invite to continue using the software designed for Glider. A lot has changed since the last public beta version (v0.4.4; and you can read about it here). The current version of GlideRelog is v 0.7.3 Private Beta. This will be a short mini-review of the current version of GlideRelog. Let’s start off with some GUI (Graphical User Interface) changes between the old program and the current one:

Login Screen:

The login screen is just that. You enter your username and password for the private website and it authenticates and your in! Sharing the GliderRelog login is detrimental to your account and will get it closed!

v0.4.4 Main Screen

The main screen for the public version looked a little bit like what you see above. You were notified of any updates and the start gliding button was right in the corner.

v0.7.3 Main Screen

The new main screen is much bulkier. You also get a parse logfiles option!

In both versions the top of the screen features tabs that you can click on to change settings and view different information.

The settings for the older public version of GlideRelog were short and to the point. There was not much optimization and customization that was possible.

The new version features additional options. Most of the old settings are still in the new version. The best additional features are the options to preload profiles or a group of profiles for Glider to use! Additionally you can now use GlideRelog on more then one WoW window at a time! As you can see a possible 8 WoW windows could be handled at once! The new version also detects realm downs, and restarting both WoW and Glider. Lots of options to choose from!

Lastly the new version gives you the option of remote administration of your bot. Quite a few options here. Frankly I did not have enough time to test out this portion of the program throughly so there might be an update to this soon!

Overall verdict: 9/10
This program is amazing! It does what Glider itself cannot at the moment. Not only does this program restart Glider but it gives you superior detection and remote capabilities! I can’t think of any negatives to the program. I’ve never gotten any errors using it and the easy of use ranks with the best. If you know how to log into your WoW account you can set up GlideRelog! It’s that easy!

You might be wondering how you can get invited into the private version. Well to be honest there is no easy way in. The requirements say new members should fulfill at least one the following requirements:

  • Developer of a tool/class/profile
  • Advanced knowledge of MMoGlider or other World of Warcraft bots
  • Advanced knowledge of os (private server application)
  • Another skill that may improve our community

Somebody from the community will have to invite you. Since this program is like a 3rd party Glider addon the best place to try getting in would be the Glider forums. Contribute and you might get invited by someone on the glider forums. There are additional features of the private community once your in such as German and English support, private profile sharing, and more!

Feel free to leave any comments or questions!

Confessions of an Ex-Arena.net Employee

We know Guild Wars is like the free version of WoW. Both games share many similarities and differences. I found a new blog which is supposedly made by a real ex-employee that worked with Guild Wars. The first post is somewhat long but it is worth the read. Check it out here. This employee claims that Arena.net has been aware of “dupes” in the game and also worked closely with the gold farming companies to generate revenue. I pulled some snippets out of the article for anyone looking at a quick summary:

- “This article addresses and exposes the truth behind many issues, most public, some private, and the reasoning behind the cause and effect of such issues.”
- “Perhaps the most important thing to know is that A.net is run by carebears.”
- “We only perform actions that will increase our revenue. Wrongful ethics are only wrong if there is public knowledge about such ethics.”
- “If you are shocked by these truths, please know that every MMO company will probably have some aspects of these truths in their company. You just don’t know about it. Welcome to the real world.”
- “I shall begin by addressing botting. As technology increases and Guild Wars’s popularity increases, the botters will increase.”
- “The game monitors how an individual plays. It monitors mouse activity and keystroke delays for recurring trends and irregular movements. Any keystroke, mouse movement, or click is recorded and analyzed. Chat logs are also analyzed.
- “Now we didn’t ban accounts until the public outcries gradually became large enough for us to “care”. Why? Very simple. It required additional work.
- “We initiated several “ban floods”… These were waves which bot accounts would be banned. The GFCs (Gold Farming Companies) knew the accounts that were being banned. We provided them a list of accounts that would be banned. Some GFCs were told to remake the accounts under different character names to thwart the PvE community, or remain inactive on those accounts until later periods.
- “It makes the game appear “community driven”, and makes the community think we care.
- “Banning accounts helps our business model. Because we do not charge a monthly fee, the botters have to buy new accounts.
- “Most of the GFC’s accounts are protected. This provides an illusion that we are working against the botters as players have no insider knowledge of GFCs.
- “Know that every MMO company that has a large GFC presence in their games will use this to their advantage and form an unofficial partnership to boost income.
- “Some of these connections may not even be known to higherups and seniors. We are the latter. Even if the seniors do know, they will most likely do nothing about it.
- “Along with botters being banned, the GFC industry looked “bleak” for Guild Wars. Of course this was simply an illusion. The GFCs used this as an excuse to raise their gold prices.

That’s a quit list of some important quotes I could pull out of the post. I believe this employee’s post to be genuine but who really knows? Feel free to voice your opinions on the matter in the article.

Top 5 most addictive games - MSNBC

MSNBC has released their list of the top 5 most addictive games. I was pleasantly surprised by one of the games that reached top 5.

1. World of WarCraft
2. EverQuest
3. Peggle
4. Doom
5. Tetris

When I saw the title of their article I knew EverQuest and World of WarCraft were going to make it on the list. Those two weren’t big shockers by any means. The third most addictive games, Peggle, is one that I have honestly never even heard of. I asked some friends who said the same thing exact thing. Number four was Doom and I can certainly understand why it got on this list. The game is defined FPS games as we know them today. I’ve spent many a nights wired up to my friends computer playing it. Lastly they rank Tetris on the list. Tetris is a fun game that is easy to learn and actually takes good timing and strategy later on to move on.

The user comments for this article bring up a lot of other games that I think could have been on this list. Games like StarCraft, Diablo, Counter-Strike, and other game series were probably as popular and addictive. In any case that’s MSNBC’s list and for the most part I was on the same level.

What are your thoughts on the top 5 most addictive games?

Alternative to WoW Armory

I know like 75% of the armory users have complained about issues with Blizzard’s Armory website. There are daily posts on the WoW forums about issues with the website. Many users complain that as beautiful as it is it just does not do a good job of being practical for consistent use. I myself have had several instances where Firefox just ceased to respond! I was able to minimize the window but it would just not load up for the life of it. If I tried to close the window it would basically close every Firefox window with it. Very frustrating. Alas someone out there with the know-how has provided us with a website just like Blizzard’s official Armory except much more optimized! No need to tweak Firefox settings to make things work just visit this website and try it yourself.

You won’t be disappointed. Visit the light-weight armory here.

Getting your banned account back!

Many of us have had our accounts banned in World of WarCraft and there is usually a slim to no chance to getting it back. Writing e-mails only leads to those lovely copy-pasted emails! I have heard from a few people that if you are truly innocent, or maybe just greedy, and want you account back to send an e-mail over to aasupervisor@blizzard.com

I have heard of a few success stories so you never know! It never hurts to try either way because you get an actual response from a real person not a copy-pasted message! Give it a try and let me know what you guys are able to come up with.

Also don’t forget that Envy-Gaming is hosting a contest for a chance to win a World of WarCraft Glider bot cd-key and a huge profile pack! There are only 2 days left! All you have to do is leave a comment here for one entry. You can also post about the contest on your site for a much greater chance at winning! Don’t miss out!

Checking the status of Glider with your iPhone

I found a great guide over at the Glider forums about watching your bot in action while AFK. I think it’s quite ingenious. Here it is:

This way allows me to see my character in real time, check my stats, log in and log out, restart glider even UPDATE glider or change a profile from ANYWHERE in the World…

First you need an Apple iPhone, I picked mine up the day it came out for 599.99 USD… its worth every penny… Props Apple even thougH I live and die by windows… anyways…

Next setup your up you’re bot…

and grab your iPhone…

Open your phones Web Browser… I’m sure this could probobly work with Windows Mobile IE but itd be very hard…

Type in your IP ADDRESS to you’re at home comp… I have mine setup locally because I’m VPN’ed in but this will work fine with any normal IP Addy.
Type in your PASSWORD

Then you have access to your root gliding machine…

Click on FULL DESKTOP… and there you have it your Glider + World of Warcraft going full strength

Intrested in your stats or want to change a profile?? JUST DOUBLE TAP where you want to zoom…

and there you have it ladies and gentlemen… a LIVE Updated Stream of your bot

With this I can log out, reopen WoW, do ANYTHING I could if I was at my computer…

And there it is. Props to Pizzatime on the Glider forums for a great find!

Glider 1.5.0 RC1 Released!

“We had to change the version number to 1.5.0 with this rev, since the keycheck is sending down some extra stuff. If that stuff gets sent down to 1.4.9, it will certainly choke.

Couple of really big bugs fixed in this as well as Hamut’s raw new hunter code. Be afraid! Actually, it handles adds really good… at least here in the friendly confines of MDY Industries.

Bullets:

  • Hunter: ported over to new model and added tons of new logic. See help for Freezing Trap key.
  • Warlock: fixed internal class guy to save Warlock.cs to DefaultClasses properly - ooops! It’s there now.
  • Added GUnit.IsTargetingMyPet for developers and internal use.
  • Added GetAllInterfaceObjectNames in GInterfaceHelper to paw at item names.
  • Fixed SuccessWithAdd combat result to chain better off monsters attacking pets, much less stupid now. (the “no big deal” error)
  • Fixed Retry combat result to go through rest code, should help Vanish, and other combat bails, do a rest when safe instead of charging back in.
  • Tweaked mount code to wait a bit longer in profile groups.
  • Tweaked GProfile class to expose its name, now visible from custom classes.
  • Added skeleton GScriptlet class.
  • Removed OldClassWrapper.cs skeleton - die, old model, die! Everything is new model now.
